Kinvara GAA & Camogie
Clubs Development Project
Kinvara Is Growing—We Need Your Help
Our town is getting bigger, and our club’s facilities are already too small. A 2021 study showed we must upgrade now. We’ve started the work, but we can’t finish without your support.

This Project Will Make a Real Difference
By 2026, nearly 40% more people will use the club. We’re building new spaces for everyone—kids, adults, and older people—to play, meet, and stay active. This is about giving our community a place to come together.

Help Us Finish the Job
Cairde Cinn Mhara is a group of local volunteers working to improve Kinvara GAA. We’ve made good progress, but we need your help to complete the project. Join Cairde Cinn Mhara and be part of this important journey.
Update on Progress
Phase 1 - Astro & Wall Ball (Completed November 2023)

Kinvara GAA Development, through Cairde Cinn Mhara, has successfully completed the development of our AstroTurf facility. This was officially opened in early January 2024, marking the completion of Phase 1. The facility is now fully operational and in use daily.
To cover the total costs and repayments, we need to commercialize the facility over the coming months and years. In the meantime, we invite you to explore our grounds.
For bookings, please contact the club or through the following link:
Phase 2 - Floodlights to Main Pitch (2025)
Our goal is to provide floodlighting for the new pitch. To achieve this, we are relying on upcoming grant applications and will need grant aid to make it possible. Estimated cost of this project is €180k. The club applied for the Sports Capital Grant and were successful to the amount of €66,757. The remainder of the finance will be funded via the fundraising and sponsorship efforts

Phase 3 - Clubhouse/Gym/Wellness Centre (2025/2026)
Our most ambitious development so far. Planning permission for this has been recently granted on the 24th September 2024 for this incredible project.
(Planning reference: 24/60306)

This project will provide essential public-use space that Kinvara currently lacks. There is no dedicated recreational or business facility in the village, and this development fills that gap. It’s an ambitious goal—but one that will make a lasting, positive impact for everyone in our community.

Modern, Multipurpose Facilities
The ground floor of the new clubhouse will include fully accessible male and female dressing rooms, open to local clubs, schools, and community groups. Upstairs, there’ll be a state-of-the-art gym and a comfortable viewing area for older members—making the space useful across all ages and interests.

A Sustainable Health & Wellness Centre
The new centre will be built with sustainability at its core—featuring solar panels, energy-efficient lighting and heating, water refill stations, bike stands, and carpool-friendly design. We're committed to protecting the environment while supporting community health. We are working with Kinvara Tidy Towns, and also developing a biodiversity trail as part of the project. A dedicated “Green Team” is helping us work toward official Green Club status, keeping environmental responsibility at the heart of everything we do.

The whole community benefits of this project are detailed below and this list is not exhaustive:

A Renovated, Inclusive Clubhouse
Our current clubhouse no longer meets the needs of our members. It needs full renovation to provide modern, gender-inclusive changing rooms and sanitary facilities—creating a welcoming space for all.

A Local Remote Working Hub
This hub will support better work–life balance, reduce commuting, and boost local business. Right now, there’s no suitable meeting space in Kinvara outside of pubs or cafés. This will provide a professional, shared space for work and community use.

A Community Gym for All
With the nearest gyms 20km away and often too expensive, we’re creating a gym that’s local, affordable, and open to everyone. It will support physical and mental wellbeing, and be a vital resource for local teams and individuals alike.

Meeting Space for Community Groups
We’ll provide flexible space for local groups to meet, connect, and collaborate—encouraging community involvement and social wellbeing across all age groups.

Indoor Training for GAA All Stars
Children with additional needs will have a safe, indoor training space—crucial for year-round sessions, especially during poor weather, when outdoor training becomes unsafe or must be cancelled.

Expanded Access for Disability Services
We’ll improve and extend access for groups like Brothers of Charity and Stewart Care, offering outreach and fitness programmes to more people who currently lack these vital supports.

Project Timeline: 2025–2026
Throughout 2025, we aim to move into the active construction phase of the development. Key project components—such as clubhouse construction, lighting installation, and fitout planning—will progress in stages as funding and approvals allow.
-
Early to Mid-2025:
Preparatory works, contractor appointments, and tender processes for major packages, including the new clubhouse and pitch lighting. -
Mid to Late 2025:
Construction of the new clubhouse is expected to begin, alongside civil works and installation phases for upgraded pitch lighting which is targeted for completion before winter. -
Late 2025 to 2026:
Continued development of clubhouse structure, with interior fitout proceeding based on available funding. Further enhancements and phased completion will follow into 2026.
Overall Plan is to have the clubhouse Finished by end of 2026 subject to finances
